It does help if you choose a driving school that is local to you, one that knows the local roads and the roads types that you will encounter on a driving test. Look at reviews but be careful of fake reviews whilst searching. Speak to your friends in the area and see if they can recommend a driving school. Local schools can get booked up quickly especially at busy times, college and university summer breaks and half terms. Driving schools may offer weekends and evening lessons but not all do, be prepared to hunt around.

All Approved Driving Instructors should display a certificate on the windscreen of their training car, be sure to check this is in date and the person in the car is authorised by the DVSA to carry out driving instruction.
